Safety & Security
Lower Merion Synagogue has a formal evacuation plan which was developed in consultation with safety experts and members of the local Fire Department.
An annual evacuation drill is held to review the plans and procedures and designated evacuation coordinators have been appointed in all minyanim.
Please note that the safety of our members and visitors is our primary concern. Our youth group leaders are responsible for safely evacuating the children in their care. Upon arrival at shul, children should either be brought to groups or be supervised by a parent at all times.
Strollers and baby carriages present a significant fire and safety hazard in the event an evacuation is necessary. Therefore, strollers and baby carriages may not be brought into the shul building (including the coatroom) or left in the outside entry walkway. During inclement weather only, strollers and baby carriages may be brought directly into the social hall.
We appreciate your cooperation. If you have any concerns or questions, please contact LMS Executive Director Gwen Horowitz at firstname.lastname@example.org or 610-664-5626.
